About walnuts I read: "Walnut trees stand alone as no other plants flourish under their spreading crown".
On my farm there are several good companions for walnuts which are all doing well: hazelnut shrubs, elderberry shrubs, wild cherry trees, mulberry trees and sweet chestnuts.
