GIY is an emerging global network of people who grow some of their own food.

With the rise of diet-related illness, there has never been a more urgent need for people to grow and eat healthy food.  Research has shown that when people grow some of their own food, they gain a deeper understanding of food (“food empathy”), which leads to long term dietary changes and improved mental and physical wellbeing.

The Ecovillage Institute was founded in 1992 by Dipl.-Ing. Karl-Heinz Meyerin the ecovillage near Hanover, one of the oldest and most spiritually-oriented ecological communities based on love, imagination and tolerance.

1995 was created by the initiative of Karl-Heinz Meyer and Sabine Ainjali in the Black Forest, the Delphi community .

2014 , Karl-Heinz Meyer a Pranawander community in an existing large house (up to 25 residents & guests) in Herrischried drumrum with active regional network. Directly start from the house cozy Pranawanderungen to clarify vision, joint search / founding, decision-making, conflict resolution, healing, relaxation & enjoyment of nature.

The Alternative Farming Systems Information Center (AFSIC) focuses on topics related to sustainable and alternative agricultural systems, crops and livestock. We work to implement the NAL mission of "advancing access to global information for agriculture."

AFSIC specializes in library services - locating, accessing, organizing and distributing information - related to many aspects of alternative agriculture. Topics include:

• sustainable and regenerative crop and livestock farming systems
• ecological pest management
• renewable energy options for farms
• direct marketing practices and community food systems
• organic production, certification and marketing
• family farm and beginning, women and minority farmer issues
• crop and livestock diversification including:

• aquaculture
• exotic and heritage farm animals
• alternative and specialty fruits and vegetables
• herbs and mushrooms
• new uses for traditional crops and crops grown for industrial production
• value-added enterprises and agritourism
